Canon Powershot S200 review: Camera with a bright lens
The camera industry is facing serious crisis as the smartphones are getting better and better each day. Their camera quality is improving and so are the image sensors inside the phone. Keeping a phone is a lot more convenient as you have to carry them regardless nowadays. The smartphones have great social integration as they connect to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Flickr. Hence, the camera companies are trying to give the users extra features. The same is done in the Canon Powershot S200. Here is a list of the features of the camera:
  1. 1.     Built quality
The camera certainly feels premium to hold in your hand. It belongs to the S series range of Canon cameras. The phone is made of glossy plastics which do not feel cheap at all. The camera is quite compact and does not feel thick in the pocket. The screen is of 3 inch with a crisp display. The colors are vibrant and are clearly visible even during the day. This is a big problem with the phones nowadays, that the display is not visible for outdoor use. On the top of the phones are the three main buttons including the power button and the button for changing the various modes. In the front panel there are the buttons for controlling the lens are various other options. This camera will feel familiar to you if you have used a P&S camera before.
  1. 2.     Specifications

The image sensor used in the camera is CCD 1/1.7 which is slightly higher than a normal camera. Normal cameras have an aperture of 25 mm. The image sensor used in the S200 is of 44 mm which is quite higher. Normal cameras have an aperture of F3 frame size whereas the S200 have an aperture of F2. This feature enables it to take photos with high quality. This is helpful as the bigger aperture helps in gathering more light. This means that even in low light, good pictures can be taken using the S200.
  1. 3.     Autofocus
The autofocus of the camera is really very quick but the camera has few bugs in terms of focus locking. If you have locked you focus on a particular thing but if you move even a bit, the camera is going to readjust the focus and which eats up your time in the low light conditions, which is a very typical thing when it comes to compact cameras.
  1. 4.     Video Quality
The camera is capable of recording 720 p video quality. Although 1080 p recording would have been fantastic, still 720 p recording is ideal for uploading to various social networking sites.
Verdict
The Canon Powershot S200 has few cons, but they are not much serious ones that may prevent it to be a fun camera. The camera is very decent for normal purpose and you can easily click pictures and share them easily over the internet because of their small size. The manual buttons on the camera can help you in being creative too.
